• Colors To Dye For

Welcome! Please look around and enjoy some of the same objects of art that I love. You can observe the brilliant colors and luscious fabrics that I employ in my art-to-wear. Hopefully the photographs are of sufficient detail that you will be able to appreciate my craftsmanship and attention to detail in finishing each piece. Nevertheless, sight and touch are so essential to enjoying my creations. I’d love for you to be able to wave one of my scarves in the cool evening breeze, or caress your cheek with the shimmering silks. Or, feel the warm, rounded, organic shapes of my felted vessels. I sincerely wish that you could enjoy the tactile experience of the fabrics—maybe in the next Internet.

My formal training commenced decades ago at the University of Missouri. Since then, several techniques within the Fiber Arts have captured my attention, from needlepoint to smocking, and fabric restoration to spinning and weaving. In 1989, quilting intrigued me and my artistic creativity has been almost exclusively in that process ever since. An interest in creating personal designs on fabric that were not commercially available led me to start my own business, Colors-To-Dye-For, a hand-dyed fabric company. Now, my work is almost solely focused on original hand created fabrics. In 1998, I returned to school to finish my undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky. I graduated this spring with a BFA in studio art, focusing on textiles. My preference is to create one-of-a-kind, studio art quilts and art-to-wear. I thoroughly enjoy the tactile experience afforded by working with all types of fabrics. The constant challenge that motivates me is to find new ways to employ fabrics and textures. My fiber works have been exhibited in the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.
